It's been a while since there's been an update to the group. But as things slowly though surely get updated, here's something in the meantime: after looking into some of the older blog posts ( namely these; 1983-doomsdaystories.deviantar… ; 1983-doomsdaystories.deviantar… ), it has to be said that there are quite a number of would-be-songs for the Doomsday-verse that for one reason or another just didn't make the cut. So here are some of them.

  • Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears (… ). The song practically screams the '80s and gives a pretty fitting tone to the Cold War atmosphere of the era. Unfortunately, the song was released in 1985. It wouldn't make sense to have the song play in 1983, when Doomsday takes place in the AU...though if the song does show up anytime after the event, it'd probably sound like this (… ).

  • Rock Me Amadeus - Falco (… ). This homage to Mozart was one of the hit Austrian singles of the 1980s. You could also call it Austria's (successful) attempt at being cool back in the day. On the other hand, this too came out in 1985 in real life, well past the cut-off date. It's unlikely that the song would have been made in the AU, in part due to Vienna being blown up during Doomsday.*UPDATE* And yes, there exist Hetalia fanvid of Austria featuring...well, the song. :XD: (… )*

  • Two Tribes - Frankie Goes to Hollywood (… ). The British band that gave the world Relax also made this explicitly Cold War-themed piece that summed up just how tense life in those times really was. The album bearing the title was produced around late 1983-1984, which would also mean that this almost made the cut for a possible Doomsday-verse song. I suppose in the AU, it's possible that some survivor would stumble upon an early copy of that song...that is if he could play it.

These are just a handful of what-could-have-beens for any potential CD for the AU. Though if anyone has any recommendations for possible tracks please feel free to discuss! :)

I've been thinking that if the 1983 Doomsday series were to have a theme soundtrack, I think this music would do. Any thoughts?

It'd make a nice part of the soundtrack, though probably not the main theme.
